Intellectual Property Manager, Eurocopter Deutschland - Ottobrunn (Germany).
Dreisprachig (französisch, englisch, deutsch) und graduiert vom CEIPI Straßburg bin ich verantwortlich für der Dienst geistiges Eigentum an Eurocopter Deutschland, in München. Die 10 Jahre vorher war ich 5 Jahre in Deutschland und 5 Jahre in Marignane (Eurocopter Frankreich).
Vorher hatte ich 4 Jahre in der Abteilung Advanced Studies an Dassault Aviation in Paris gearbeitet, in dem ich gleichzeitig meinen PhD führte.
In addition to the previous tasks I was handling in France, I am responsible for the following tasks:
• Ensuring that the inventions made at ECD (over 5000 employees) are protected.
• Ensuring that the designs of ECD do not infringe any third parties rights.
• Defining the protection policy (field and countries) in accordance with the industrial and financial constraints.
• Ensuring that all inventions are remunerated according to the German Law; determining the value of the inventions, contracting agreements and solving conflicts with employees.
• Responsible for ECD IP expenses, ensuring that the budget available (over 2 M€) is respected.
• Animating an IP Focal Points network to ensure that the new patents of main third parties (especially competitors) are regularly monitored and not infringed.
• Ensuring that the IP rights involved in our business with other companies are safely managed by appropriate contractual means.
2008 - 2009• Prepared and prosecuted patent applications, in cooperation with patent attorneys.
Position involved all technical aspects of patent prosecution, including background check and prior art research, drafting claims preparing reference figures for patent applications, and providing technical expertise during invention assessment.
• Monitored rival patent portfolios. Portfolio protection against infringement.
2005 - 2007• Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) program for French DGA (Délégation Générale à l’Armement - French Army Procurement Service):
- Coordinated (3 industrial partners) the response to call for tender for ongoing definition study (DVI study) to meet army and Navy requirements for VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) UAV.
- DVI study: supervised the flying platform study in partner’s design offices ; assistant to head of project and head of program within Eurocopter.
• Research activities: developed a cost model & coupled it with a pre-design tool; contributed to high speed helicopter study; contributed to alternative heat engines study.
• Competition activities: monitored technological development for EC135 and participated in new engine requirement definition for Eurocopter fleet.
2001 - 2005• Coordinated the Rotary Wing part of European Program CAPECON. This program aimed at studying the economic efficiency of potential Civil UAV Applications and proposing potential configuration. Monitored eight European partners (industrial, academic, and research fields).
• Carried out competition analysis studies, both internal and external.
• Contributed to European ENHANCE program, aiming at defining common ways of working to start extensive competitive engineering implementation in European aeronautical sector. Definition/management of business case dedicated to a pre-design study, with 6 partners.
• Contributed to cooperation projects between Ottobrunn and Marignane plants.
1999 - 2001• Contributed to French-German governmental CHANCE program aiming at performing a complete helicopter (fuselage + rotor) simulation.
• In charge of Eurocopter Deutschland contribution to European RESPECT program, aiming at developing new emergency flight maneuvers in different helipad configurations.
1995 - 1999Advanced Studies Department –
• PhD thesis: ”Shape optimization and automatic differentiation“. Developed (design, implementation and ratification) a multi-platform optimization process.
• Contribution to new Falcon airplane airfoil design, within framework of European research programs.
