The ITA is dedicated to the advancement of TaeKwonDo in all its aspects: art, sport and self-defense discipline. The primary goal of the ITA is to provide Independent TaeKwonDo Instructors around th e World with an Association committed to their professional enhancement.
The ITA was originally founded in 1985 by Grandmaster John Pellegrini, who owned and operated a chain of Martial Arts schools in Florida. As he became prominent in the TaeKwonDo community, he was approached by many TaeKwonDo Instructors who were tired of being abused, exploited, held back and who were generally dissatisfied with their current situations. The concept of the ITA was born out of his desire to help those Instructors find a "home" that would restore their dignity while providing needed legitimate credentials in a user-friendly, cost-effective and non-stifling environment. With the assistance of other TaeKwonDo Masters, he organized the ITA.
The ITA is unique amongst the hundreds of TaeKwonDo Associations and "Governing Bodies" because it truly offers complete autonomy to its affiliated schools:
· No curriculum mandates.
· No politics
Die Self Defense Germany Federation bietet Schulen und Gruppen, sowie Vereinen, welche sich einer international anerkannten und fairen Organisation anschließen wollen dazu die Möglichkeit, dies ohne Politik und Zwang auf die ausgeübte Disziplin zu tun. Durch Anbindung an die ITA und ICHF ist ein hoher Standard gewährleistet.
